More Housing Information
Here is an additional link I found about housing resources. This is cool because it talks about other resources than just apartments, like tips on buying your own place! Check it out here.

Housing Resources
You may already have your housing for the quarter lined up, but I wanted to include these anyway. If you need these, or know a friend that may need solid housing check these out:
Foster Care to 21 - This program allows youth to stay in care for three more years while attending school. This is an option to maintain some stability. This would also allow medical benefits to continue.
Independent Youth Housing Program - Allows youth to stay in a home specifically for young people in transition. They are intended to be safe and affordable. Check to see if you qualify.
Independent Living - This program may not apply to all, but if you are still in care this could be a great way to transition into your own living arrangement. They provide a lot of services beyond housing - like support, budgeting, etc.

Housing
I see a lot of students who are eager to move out one their own when they come to school. It makes sense to get a spot near campus and spread your wings, and experience some independence. I am definately for those things. Be sure your housing does not cost you too much money monthly. I have ran into students that all of their extra aid goes to housing and that is not a fun way to live. A good rule of thumb is to keep your housing costs to be around 25% of your monthly income, that way it is manageable.
Here is a link for an Apartment Finder guide for the Lakewood area. This is a publication that I am not trying to promote, but we have these on campus and often hand them to students, so this is the online version.
