I just came across this great internship opportunity for interested students. It is a summer internship and the folks at Casey Family Programs have set this up through an agency called Invesco. It sounds like a great way to enhance your existing skills and potentially build your resume for the future.
If you are interested in applying you need to do the following steps:
1 - Click the link to be taken to the Invesco website
2 - Click "Advanced Search" on the home page
3 - Under "Keywords" enter the word "internship"
4 - Scroll down and click "Search for Jobs"
If you find one that your are interested in, click on the title and apply for it online. This could be a great opportunity. Also note, that not all of the positions are local to Washington, so it may be hard if your program is going through the summer.

Resume Tips
At some point in your time here at CPTC you will need to think about creating a resume. They can play a very critical role in your job search process. Hopefully, with the training you have received from CPTC your search for employment will be short, but it always helps having any advantage so your application stands out. This is why writing a strong resume is so vital. It communicates your strengths, talents, and skills that you are bringing with you to your new position. You want it to be clear, concise and effective while not overwhelming the person who is considering your application. You can work with Harry Vye in our Career Center if you want some one on one coaching or you can check out this site. It has a lot of information in it and has links to other helpful resume information. If you desire to read more about this subject just check out the Lending Library through the Solid Start program. We have "What Color is your Parachute?" The author of this book is the author of the website posted above. It has great information about how to create a resume. Check it out from the library today!

Work that Matters
Here is an excerpt from a recent Dave Ramsey newsletter that I came across. I really enjoyed thinking through these questions about my own life and since your current school work is preparing you for your future work, it made sense to pass them along to you.
"Everyone has a dream of being excited about going to work every day, but how many of us are actually making that dream a reality? Doing work that you love—work that matters—is important. Life goes by too fast to be stuck in a j-o-b that you don't enjoy. Here are four key questions you should ask yourself about your job.
Does your work reflect your value system?
Whether you work for a company or are self-employed, don't compromise your values just to earn some money. Spend your time doing something that reflects your beliefs.
Do you have a voice in the workplace?
Are you able to consistently contribute ideas at your business, or are you just a pencil pusher? Knowing that your opinion matters in the workplace is a big deal.
Are you working in your strengths?
Make sure you are in a position that allows you to move toward your long-term career goals while concentrating on your strengths. You'll be more productive if you focus on developing your strengths instead of your weaknesses.
Does your work matter to other people?
Are you and your company focused solely on the bottom line, or are you improving peoples' lives? At Dave's company, we do many different things, but ultimately we are all offering people the same thing—hope. How does your work affect people every day?
If you can't answer yes to these questions, it might be time to look for a new job. We make sure that our team loves their jobs because they are doing work that matters."
