UW Transfer Fair

Here is an invite I received from the University of Washington for a transfer fair. Check it out if you want to try and transfer to UW. They are very strong program for alumni of care and could be a great spot to continue your education and support.

What is the University Transfer Connection?
  • The University Transfer Connection is a FREE two-day program for Washington students who have emancipated out of foster care, who are university or community college students with a 2.5 undergraduate GPA or higher and are interested in learning about transferring to the University of Washington and/or Seattle University.
  • You will experience the University of Washington and Seattle University college life by sitting in on an undergraduate class, eating lunch on campus, speaking with current UW and SU students and participating in admissions and financial aid workshops.
  • This program will occur Thursday and Friday, January 26th and 27th, from 9am until 5pm.

Who is eligible?
  • Must be a former or current in state, federal or tribal out-of-home care (if you are part of the foster care to 21 program please contact us at uwchamps@uw.edu).
  • Must also have college credits (with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5) obtained after high school graduation.

Why should I go?
  • The University Transfer Connection experience is FREE! Workshops, campus meals, tours, and parking paid for by the UW Champions Program, Seattle University’s Fostering Scholars Program and the College Success Foundation. We also have limited funds to cover the cost of transportation and lodging for students traveling from outside of King County. Please contact us at uwchamps@uw.edu for more information about this option.
  • While you are on campus, you will not only learn about the steps it will take for you to be admitted into the UW and SU, but you will learn about money available to help you PAY for college. You won’t do this alone. Current students (including students in the Champions Program, Fostering Scholars Program and Passport Scholars) and staff will all be working together for your college success. We want to give you the tools to help you successfully transfer to a great university.
